Galatasaray produced a stunning second-half turnaround to defeat Juventus 5-2 in the first leg of their UEFA Champions League knockout playoff at RAMS Park on Tuesday, February 18, 2026.

The Turkish champions trailed 2-1 at halftime but exploded after the break, scoring four unanswered goals to take a commanding lead into the return leg in Turin on February 25.

The match began under intense atmosphere with nearly 50,000 fans creating a wall of noise. Galatasaray opened the scoring in the 15th minute through Brazilian midfielder Gabriel Sara, who finished calmly to give the home side the lead. Juventus responded quickly, using sharp counter-attacks to take a 2-1 advantage before halftime via a brace from Teun Koopmeiners, leaving the tie delicately balanced.

The turning point came early in the second half. Dutch winger Noa Lang equalized in the 49th minute with a clinical finish, igniting the crowd and shifting momentum decisively toward Galatasaray. Defender Davinson Sánchez headed home from a Sara assist just over 10 minutes later to make it 3-2, capitalizing on growing disarray in the Juventus defense.

The game swung further when Juventus were reduced to 10 men following a red card for Juan Cabal around the 67th minute. Galatasaray seized the advantage ruthlessly: Lang added his second goal in the 74th minute – assisted by star striker Victor Osimhen – to make it 4-2. A fifth goal from substitute Sacha Boey followed in the closing stages, sealing a remarkable four-goal second-half surge that left Juventus stunned.

Osimhen, the Nigerian forward on loan, was central to the victory, providing hold-up play, creativity, and the key assist for Lang’s second goal. His performance, combined with Sara’s midfield control and Lang’s clinical finishing, showcased the depth and resilience of coach Okan Buruk’s side.

Post-Match Reactions

Galatasaray celebrated wildly after the final whistle. The club’s official X account posted a collage of euphoric moments – including Lang’s fist-pumping leap, Osimhen clapping amid teammates, group hugs, and captain Mauro Icardi in the celebrations – asking fans to vote for their favorite photo.

The win marks one of Galatasaray’s highest-scoring European victories in recent years and hands Juventus one of their heaviest defeats in continental competition under Luciano Spalletti. Juventus will need a remarkable comeback in the second leg at the Allianz Stadium to advance to the round of 16.

The result keeps Galatasaray’s Champions League hopes firmly alive. Despite a tough league phase where they scraped into the playoffs, the team has now suggested that they can compete with Europe’s elite on the biggest stage.
