Troops of the Joint Task Force North East Operation Hadin Kai (OPHK) successfully repelled a series of coordinated terrorist assaults launched against military positions in Konduga, Marte, Jakana and Mainok between approximately 2230 hours on March 5 and 0300 hours on March 6, 2026.

Lieutenant Colonel Sani Uba, Media Information Officer at Headquarters Joint Task Force North East Operation Hadin Kai, issued an official statement today, confirming details of the interaction.

The attackers, identified by the Nigerian Army as elements of Boko Haram, targeted defensive locations in a bid to overrun troops. The assaults were met with resolute resistance from alert and well-prepared soldiers who maintained their positions throughout the night despite intense fighting.

In a swift and coordinated response, troops executed flanking manoeuvres while reinforcement teams from Sectors 1 and 2 moved in to support the engaged units. The combined counter-offensive forced the terrorists into disorganized retreat. In isolated cases where sections of the perimeter were briefly breached, troops immediately launched counter-attacks and fully restored control.

During the engagements, several terrorist commanders – including key Amirs (leaders) – were neutralized, while numerous fighters were also eliminated. The Air Component provided critical support with multiple precision airstrikes targeting fleeing insurgents and identified hostile positions, inflicting further heavy casualties and degrading the attackers’ capability.

Although some infrastructure within the locations sustained damage during the exchanges, all bases remained firmly under OPHK control. Ground troops are currently conducting exploitation and clearance operations across the affected areas, recovering terrorist corpses, weapons, ammunition and other combat materials.

The Nigerian Army confirmed that a number of gallant soldiers (number undisclosed), including a courageous officer who led from the front, paid the supreme price during the defence. Their sacrifice is being honoured, and the military reiterated its unwavering commitment to defending Nigeria’s territorial integrity and protecting innocent citizens.

The failed attacks are seen as a clear indication of increasing desperation among terrorist groups under sustained military pressure across the theatre. Operation Hadin Kai continues to dominate the battlespace, maintaining aggressive posture against all criminal elements.
