The UK Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO) has issued updated travel warnings for Turkey and Israel, citing heightened regional risks and the potential for sudden escalation.

In its latest advisory, the FCDO urged British nationals to exercise caution and prepare for possible disruption.

Turkey:
The FCDO advises against all travel to areas within 10km of the Syria border, warning of ongoing fighting and heightened terrorism risks. Travelers are urged to monitor local media, sign up for official alerts, avoid military and security sites, and follow instructions from local authorities.

Israel & Palestine:
The FCDO advises against all travel to Gaza and areas within 500m of the Gaza border. It also advises against all but essential travel to the rest of Israel and Palestine due to heightened regional tension. Risks include rocket and drone attacks, shrapnel from interceptions, possible disruption at Ben Gurion Airport, and demonstrations or clashes around anniversaries and political events. Some embassy staff and dependents have been temporarily relocated within Israel as a precaution, though the embassy continues to operate.

General Guidance for Travelers:

  • Research destinations thoroughly and secure comprehensive travel insurance.
  • Sign up for FCDO email alerts.
  • Monitor local and international media.
  • Follow local authority instructions.
  • Prepare emergency supplies and plans, as outlined in GOV.UK crisis guidance.

The updates reflect ongoing instability across the region, with officials warning that escalation could cause sudden closures and travel disruption.
